Why the Seeming Discrepancy?
2-10-5, on the topic of correctible errors, says, "Points scored...prior to the recognition of an error, shall not be nullified."
But 2.10.1.G says, "A1 is fouled prior to the bonus, but erroneously A1 is awarded a one-and-one. The error is discovered: ... (b) after A1 makes both. RULING: In ... (b), the successful free throw(s) is cancelled..." The rule seems to state that points cannot be nullified; the casebook states clearly that points can be nullified. Can you help me understand the obvious point I'm missing here? (happened tonite--we applied the casebook situation) |

Yes, but 2-10-4 says that unmerited FTs are cancelled. So, 2-10-5 means "Other" points ... are not nullified. |
