What do you think about the play 6 (time 04min30s )?

Is that a charge or a block?

I am not sure about the play 3 either...

Play 3 -- block.
Play 6 -- player control (charge, offensive, whatever the FIBA language is.)

"We are basketball"? That seems a little presumptuous to me. So high school kids in the USA aren't playing basketball?

"Although we can see different referees it is not intended to criticize, them, our intention is to use these clips as constructive criticism."

They may be basketball, but they're not proof-readers, that's for sure. We don't mean to criticize, but we're going to criticize constructively. Okaaaaaaay.

Thanks for your help

I have downloaded the NCAA rules as well and will def read it too.

It is hard to judge if it is a foul (block) or a player control when you have a fraction of a second to do it.

I am struggling with this ( and with my english too :D)

Agree, though I don't know FIBA rules. Play 3 would be a block in a HS game, and Play 6 a PC foul.

What an annoying 1:45 introduction.

Thanks

I will have a read as well High School Basketball Rules and Official High School Basketball Rules - Basketball Rules

I worked a D3 college game earlier this season. We're out there observing warm-ups. One team had everybody lined up in rows facing midcourt and the captain standing at midcourt, facing the team. The captain had a ball and he would move the ball left or right or up or down. And for each movement, the whole team would respond with a defensive move. If the ball went left, they all moved left, if the ball went down, they all dove to the floor, etc.

Well, when the captain pushed the ball out in front of him, toward the team, guess what they all did? That's right, they all flopped down on their backsides.

First time I ever saw anybody PRACTICE flopping. I couldn't believe it.

Eh, I could see a travel called on play 3 but I only watched it twice. 6 is a player control foul.

As I was watching I wrote down what I would have called based on my initial reaction. (before watching the replay) Granted several of the camera angles were out of position to make the call here is what my initial reaction was while watching all the plays. NFHS rules. Some of my initial reactions changed after watching the replay.

1. Charge
2. Block
3. Block
4. Block
5. Charge
6. Charge
7. No Call (after replay switched to charge)
8. Block

Play 6 is team control all the way. Play 3 definitely had contact initiated by A1, but I think B1 exaggerated. Could pass on it.

That was my first reaction to Play 3, but after watching the replay, B1 was definitely moving forward at the time of contact. Block.

I'll look at it again.

Play 3. block

play 6. block (although the player does take the brunt of the hit in the torso he does not beat the player to the spot.)
