Short And Sweet ...

Coaches and captains meeting: players properly equipped, players wearing uniforms properly, practice good sportsmanship.

don't ask

although I mainly do FIBA, we still do NCAA rules for one college conference that has American teams. Our board decided that it is up to the coaches to tell us. If they do not, we assign a full time out. this prevents ua having to approach a coach who may be upset. If you ask and he does not answer and you ask again, he may have already used, say 10 seconds, and then says give me a 30.

"Hello Coach"...(if he doesn't know me I'll say my name while shaking his hand)...(then, after my partners have introduced themselves) "any questions, comments, jokes?"...(I usually get a smile and maybe even an occassional joke/comment/or question)...(then)

..."good luck and have fun!"

Short and sweet...
