Ball enters ring from below

I've looked but can't find anything relating to this being a violation. Had a player tell me the other night it is, but I couldn't remember a specific rule in order to tell him no.

In the NCAA rule book you will find it in 9-6.

It is a violation....hard to find because I believe it is in the travel, kick part of the violations. Hafta look when I get home unless someone else posts the rule.

Bingo. It's not far from that in the NFHS rule book (9-4).

Thanks.

Note that it's not a violation to "enter" the ring from below, but to "enter and pass through" the basket from below.

For Coaches And Fanboys Who May Not Have A Rulebook ...

NFH 9-4: A player shall not travel with the ball, intentionally kick it, strike it with the fist or cause it to enter and pass through the basket from below.
