High school scorers timers.

Any idea what they are paid? They are typically school employees. Curious as I heard in the Chicago area they make 75.00 for a Varsity game.

Sometimes I will be asked to sign a pay voucher at the table, name, address, Social Security number (a sore point here in Connecticut), and will notice that others have also signed the voucher, ticket takers, scorers, timers, etc. I believe that the scorer, and timer, get somewhere in the $25.00 to $50.00 range, I believe for both games of the junior varsity/varsity doubleheader. Ten to twelve home games a season, easy work for a couple of hundred dollars a season.

Ours at my school have worked for years. They get a season pass for all of the sports. No pay. Very dedicated and professional. We have one group that does the non-varisty contests and another for the varsity. JH is usually done by students as some of the freshman games. Both crews work the tournaments in shifts.

These people are not school employees, just very dedicated boosters of the school and programs. Having games at many other schools, I feel like this set of scorers/timers are among the best in my state.

As a former HS manager (graduated 05) who did the book or the board for 4 years during countless Freshmen, JV, and road Varsity games, I could tell you that the timer and scorer got 35 for JV, 45 for Varsity at our HS in CT.

These guys were extremely good at what they did - one had been doing it for 30 years (retired teacher), the other for 15 (teacher in another public school system).

My beef is I've heard some get 75.00 a game while I'm getting to a Varsity game an hour before, sometimes in access of 60 miles round trip and for that I get 54.00. It ain't right.

Why don't you try officiating the game and being the scorekeeper at the same time? Then you'd get $129.00! In fact, if you also worked the clock, you'd get $204.00! Hey - Diebler does it and he also plays in the game and sells popcorn while taking tickets and parking cars! Oh yeah - he's also the A.D. and head cheerleader.

Gee - and I didn't even have to use my abacus.

$75 sounds more like what might be paid for a college game.

Geez, it sounds like the college guys get all the good stuff, more $$, all the big games, the chicks ....

I've worked games where the table crew has been around 20+ years, they give us their pre-game and expect us to adjust to them. They mean well, but...

That ain't beef, that's wine.
No matter what anyone else get$, if you are unhappy with your officiating pay, there is, at least, one option open to you.
