During the game last night A1 had been playing a good game. With a few minutes left to go in the 2nd half I call him for traveling. Make my call and start heading the other way. Next thing I know the ball is sailing past me.
My partner calls the T and he is done for the night(fouls out). He was pleading his case that he thought the ball would be thrown in from the other endline. Afterwards I am told he got upset with the call and threw the ball at me. The game ended up to be a good one.

I had a game a few weeks ago in which something similar happened. I made a PC foul call on a HS varsity player in a spring league game. He slammed the ball down, then threw it into the bleachers. WHACK!
He said he was just throwing it to me. I told him my arms weren't twenty feet long.

I call a foul on a player. He raises the ball over his head and slams it to the floor but catches it (you can see but not here the "golly gee willikers" associated with the slamming). First time I saw it happened, my partner gave a T. I have also T'd a player for that. When I did it, my partner said I should have held the whistle because you can't expect a player not to get angry at themselves over "dumb" mistakes. I feel slamming the ball warrants a T...now simply slapping it with a hand and grimacing is different. Where do each of you stand on this?

I will usually not T if they catch it, but I will tell 'em to knock that crap off. If they slam it and don't catch it, I tell 'em if the ball comes back down, they are gonna get a T. They look at you like, huh?

This kind of play, to me, usually is the player upset at himself or a teammate. That is a good time to use some preventative officiating, and tell him to knock it off.
If it continues to happen, whack away, but to do right off the bat seems extreme. |

I had a similar senario, except the kid yelled "hey ref"! So, i turned around only in enough time to have the ball wack me in the face! I had a black and purple eye and my nose was broken!
