Game management and other thoughts

You was meant to refer to refs - I know how I handle my players and I won't tolerate that kind of behavior. I don't think anyone took any official action in this case, because the player in question was playing first thing the next morning (her team's next game after ours) - and my players watched her play while waiting for our game. Needless to say they were not pleased that there were no repercussions for such an act.

I never saw the refs notify anyone about the incident(coach, player, or game management) following their comment to me about handling it. Not saying they didn't, but it sure didn't look like they chose to do anything about this. However, I should also note that they did a great job during the game - very well managed, communicated with coaches well, called a good game, etc - very professional. I was surprised at the ending.

It doesn't sound like any action was taken...does that mean that the refs didn't report it correctly - probably not. The people running this tournament have to make the decisions on what consequences to hand out...having said that, if I had been doing the game, and had not yet "left the visual confines" of the court, then I am hitting A1 with a flagrant T and going to the table and making sure it is recorded in the book as such...shoot free throws if it will affect the outcome of the game...after that, it is out of our hands - the "higher powers" are in charge...sounds like your "higher powers" dropped the ball...

Hawks, I have never seen a Tournament not have something in the rules spelling out penalties to fighting. In the future be sure to know how to address this issue.

I think that everyone needs to read the latest article by Jim Dixon in officiating.com about "when enough is enough." I think we all, including myself do not address situations soon enough.
