Player position

I have two questions both happening in same night.

1st scenario:
Player A is in triple threat position. He jumps and is in air and is met by Player B. Player B never touches the ball and no foul is committed. Player A drops the ball while in the air and proceeds to dribble. Is this a violation?

2nd scenario:
Player A is out of bounds. Ball is loose on the floor. Player A jumps back in bounds and lands with one foot and gets ball after landing. 2nd foot is still in air. Is this a violation?

Would you care to provide why or why not each of these is or is not a violation?

Sorry Ch1town, for not making it clear that I was hoping for the OP to answer.

For those without a handbook, is it ok if you copy and paste the wording of those rules into the thread? Thanks so much for clarifying this. BTW, FYI, we made the correct call in both situations.

4.44.3 SITUATION A: A1 jumps to try for goal. B1 also jumps and: (a) slaps the ball out of A1's hands; (b) touches the ball but does not prevent A1 from releasing the ball; (c) touches the ball and A1 returns to the floor holding the ball; or (d) touches the ball and A1 drops it to the floor and touches it first after it bounces. RULING: In (a) and (b), the ball remains live. In (c), a traveling violation. In (d), a violation for starting a dribble with the pivot foot off the floor. Since the touching did not prevent the pass or try in (b), (c) and (d), the ball remains live and subsequent action is covered by rules which apply to the situation.

7.1.1 SITUATION B: A1 blocks a pass near the end line. The ball falls to the floor inbounds, but A1, who is off balance, steps off the court. A1 returns inbounds, secures control of the ball and dribbles. RULING: Legal. A1 did not leave the court voluntarily and did not have control of the ball when he/she did. This situation is similar to one in which A1 makes a try from under the basket and momentum carries A1 off the court. If the try is unsuccessful, A1 may come back onto the court and regain control since A1 did not leave the court voluntarily and did not have control of the ball when he/she did.

Horshak is a very old name. It means "the cows are dying".

"A touch of Arnold Horshak fever".
It was usually Juan Epstein, not Arnold Horshak, who brought in the fake notes:

"Hey, Mr. Kotter, I got a note!"
The phony notes, excusing Epstein from classes and other sundry functions, were always written by Epstein himself, though he claimed they were signed by, as written, "Epstein's Mother". Epstein would lip-synch the wording of the note while Kotter would read it aloud, usually proving the note was written by Epstein himself.

Great show. Great song.

I'm aware of that. Way to ruin a good joke. I watched a lot of the re-runs as a kid.

Thanks for making me feel old. Now we're even. I watched the original "Welcome Back Kotter", in prime time, on ABC, on a televison that looked something like this:

John Sebastian's theme song, "Welcome Back", is still one of my favorite televison show theme songs. Of course, most of you kids out there probably don't remember T.V. theme songs. The networks did away, or cut back, on most of them to give more time to the show itself, or to more commercials.
