I suggest if they do this then the team gets to choose who shoots the free throw.

Geeez I didnt think my screen-name would be a big deal. I grew up around all that stuff. Sorry fellas.

Really? Where did you grow up, Sicily?

If an "off the ball" foul occurs, any player on the team that was fouled (who is on the floor) can shoot the free throws. If there's an 85% shooter on the floor, there's really no point in fouling off the ball against a 52% shooter.

I think Rick Barry would have loved this one.

That's an excellent idea.

Wow. I don't know! Why would you start that strategy so early? Doesn't make much sense at all to me.

I believe that this is actually the rule on an "away from the play" foul, although the rule only kicks in during the last two minutes of the 4th quarter or OT, as was pointed out earlier.

Actually, I believe that the rule is one FT by any player and retention of the ball.

So the question would be is two FTs by any player, but no awarding of possession better or worse?

During the game they showed the NBA career worst free throw list and the only other recent player was Chris Dudley and his form was equally bad.

Similar to how Arnold Schwarzenegger can still speak such bad english even though he's lived in the States for 30 years! I don't get it.

Similar to how people type every day, and despite constantly seeing how things are typed correctly all around them, still manage to mess it up in more emails/letters/etc. than not.

Yes, but I was only addressing the part of Mark's post that suggeted letting any player on the floor shoot the free throws. Sorry for the confusion.

Because when Shaq gets the ball in the post, fouling him is a pretty good way to negate an advantage. If Nash is ready to penetrate, fouling Shaq is a good way to stop a fast break.

I can see how this strategy could work early, taking away a few possessions by putting the grand mason himself on the line.
