NBA - Double Violation = Jump Ball?
16 Seconds left in Wizards vs Cavs game. Cavs up by 7.
Arenas inbounding the ball under the basket in their backcourt. Arenas throws the ball in and West jumps up and tips the ball. Unsure if it hits the back of the backboard or if Arenas comes in and appears to touch or grab West while he is still out of bounds or what. Announcers were confused (shocking) and there was no real explanation given. Apparently, the refs called a "double violation" and jumped the ball at Center Court. Anyone fill me in on the NBA "double violation" rule? Thanks,

I did not see the play and unclear about your description.
However the NBA rules on jump balls are not that much different than any other set. It'a matter of where it is jumped and who is in the jump circle that is dictated by the rule Where did they jump the ball?

I was confused too and I saw the play. I just do not know what was called and why.
