When you're wrong, it might be better off to admit that you were rather than make up excuses like "Oh, I deliberately made a wrong post to spur discussion." We're all wrong at times. When you pull nonsense like that, and then freely admit doing so, is it any wonder people question your veracity?

Jmo.....

I fixed it for you.

Is there any special reason that you won't confirm that you actually are a D1 official?

Also, by your own admission, <b><i>"I will post inaccurate info to get responses"</i></b>, how do we know that your post above is truthful? How do we know when <b>ANY</b> of your posts are truthful?

You worked almost 5000 games in your first seven years? <b>ALMOST FIVE THOUSAND GAMES? IN SEVEN YEARS?</b> OK.:)

Larry, I think he's <s>lying</s> offering a different view again.

Are you serious or is this just more discussion-provoking?

No, you didn't miss anything. Socal decided, for whater reason, to call Jurassic "Larry." Either he thinks he knows something we don't (possible that he thinks this), or he just thinks it's funny (also possible that he thinks this.)

I remember that discussion. To be fair, after about 300 games a year, one starts to lose track. As I said, <strike>"diminishing returns"</strike> "integrity."

note: I fixed it myself.

There's some quote somewhere to the effect that "when people tell you to go to hell, they're not praising you for being a devil's advocate."

Let's hear it for youth!!!

While I agree there is no replacement for experience and have heard many times to do as many games as possible, I find at my advanced age (47) if I do 5 or 6 games a day, I am just not as sharp and can't get up and down the court as well as I would like......hence the "diminsihing returns" others have spoken of many times.

Yup, 700 games a year is a conservative number, folks. Seriously.

dblref Tue Apr 15, 2008 10:37am

Let's (apostrophe in the right place) see. If you do 600-700 games a year, at an average cost of a mere $30 per game, you would make $18K - $21K a year. If you did this for the last 7 years, you have made $126K-$147K. I'm impressed!

I would do as many as 11 or 12 games on a Saturday. Also, one could do a F/JV doubleheader and then go do a 4 game rec set. I was just trying to see as much ball as quickly as possible to get experience. I was told that there is no substitute for getting games under your belt.

We have a a term for people like that in our area -- whores.

Someone mentioned not being sharp after 5 or 6 games. I can be sharp for two rec games and at the end of two high school games I start to get downright testy. :D

I dunno... maybe it is time the forum owners to simply disable links to gifs. Apparently the public mocking of these cute giffy posts isn't getting the message across to Billy & Mark.

Gee, Dan - if they bug you so much, why don't you just put both of us on your ignore list. Then you'll never be bothered with "cute giffy posts" ever again as long as you live. Then, I guess, you'll be happy. I apologize for just trying to cheer things up from time to time. I didn't realize I was ruining your life. Sorry.

You're give yourself too much credit. You're not ruining my life and you're not the director of entertainment responsible for forum cheer. Frankly, it's not even worth my time to put you on my ignore list to avoid your cute giffy posts. I'm just kinda hoping you'll stop.

Anyway, feel free to put me on your ignore list if it makes you more cheerful.

FWIW Mark, IMO, it's not the pictures, it's the number of them. Not every post needs one, and, in fact, I don't think I can recall more than a handful that have added to the conversation.

(And, to be clear, this isn't directed only at you -- the same applies to many of the posters here.)
