The idea being that the conferences are competing for the best officials by offering the best pay, but working the tourney is an honor so they can undercut the top rates in the premier conferences. A friend of mine who refs college soccer has told me that it's almost not worth the time off of work to work the College Cup (soccer's final four). The key word must be almost because he's worked the last 3. |
