Final Four Officials

How do you get on the list to call the final four? I saw a list that had several officials on it and they were to be the ones to call on the final weekend?

Are you talking about Division 1? The level would be helpful to answer your question.

Peace

Cool

Being a former official in the OVC, you should already know the answer to this.

I don't know what you saw but it was NOT a list of Final Four officials.

You might have seen a list of people that somebody thought might have a shot at working the Final Four. But my understanding is that the Final Four officials are chosen from the overall pool of tournament officials, and those officials aren't chosen until after the conference tournaments are over. I honestly don't know all the inner workings of who gets picked, but I'm pretty sure they haven't been picked yet.

I have not officiated since 1994 and never made it to the top. I saw on this forun a list od D1 officials who were on the list to call on the final weekend. I was just asking what you had to do to get on this list?

OVC is a D1 conference, isn't that the top? Every conference sends a rep to the NCAA tourney, so at least one of your OVC colleagues would have been up for consideration for the Final Four when you were working.

The list you saw was probably from last year. It was probably someone's conjecture as to who would be working. To get on that particular list, you probably would need to do a lot of D1 TV games over a number of years.

To get on the list of refs who are being actually considered, you'd have to work in several D1 conferences for a large number of years, and do a really, really good job.

It's probably not just a matter of finding the right website, logging in, and putting your name down!
