Tenn-Vandy FT

Tenn to shoot two - official gives ball to shooter - Vandy player enters lane - official blows whistle and gets ball back from shooter, then starts over - no signal for delayed violation by Vandy. I only do Fed - this would be a delayed violation - different in NCAA?

The rule is the same.

Thanks Nev - It didn't matter - the shooter hit them both - but no signal - I just wasn't sure.

The official (or one of his partners) may have seen the player entering just as, or while the ball was being bounced. I would do the same thing in this situation.

You don't lose coaching box privledges in NCAA basketball.

The Tenn player clearly said something to Eades, but it is unclear what.

Yep. I don't know of any other D1 facility quite like it.

Were the team benches located on the endline? How does that work with the coaching box? I only saw a minute or two of the game and it appeared as if the Tenn coach was out of bounds along the endline.

Yes, they are on the endlines. The coaching box is marked. If you get a good camera angle and look hard enough you can see it.

Certainly weird.

Vandy's coach did not get whacked. Pearl from UTenn get whacked and he deserved it. He was repeatedly warned by two of the officials to ease up and back off, and he chose not to, and thus the T.

The play that I thought needed something was the Vandy player coming in way after the whistle to try to tie the ball up and almost took the UTenn player's head off in the process.

Even if the player did not hear the first whistle, that still needed to be something (imo) other then a warning.

Any thoughts?

Yes, he did. Both head coaches, Stallings and Pearl, got "T"s. So did a Tennessee player.

Oh? I did not see that T. When did Vandy's coach get rung up? I seen Pearl's T and the UTenn player's T.
