This just happened to me as the Lead a few nights ago. I decided to ignore it because the team with the ball would simply get the ball back. I'm not so sure that I did the right thing, now that I think about it. I do know that we're supposed to ignore this violation if it puts the other team at a disadvantage, as in a breakaway layup situation, where blowing the whistle would stop the easy score.
