Coaches Say the Darndest Things.....

I once had a coach approach me at half time and tell me "Can you watch for fouls?"

It was that day I realized what I was supposed to be doing as a referee.

Working a 2 person Varsity game. Big Blowout expected by Team B. Team B players are struggling and I hear Coach yell at his point guard, "leave it alone already - I am going to shave your head" I nearly choke on my whistle wondering what he is referring to. Next time down the floor, he calls time out and as I am standing in spot- he is yelling "leave the hairbands alone already, if you girls can't do it then I will find some duct tape and take care of it until we get back and I can shave all your heads". I mean his face is red and he is serious... about 20 sec into timeout - he laughs about it because it so ridiculous.

Needless to say - every time I am in front of his bench, I rearrange my headband...
