A1 shoots and while the ball is within the imaginary cylinder of the basket, B1 smacks the backboard, and i say this intentionally, not on the attempt to block the shot, but to prevent the ball from going in. how do u deal with this situation? is it a technical foul, and if it is, its charged to the player correct? i think i would assess a technical foul, not counting the basket. but what if the basket goes in? or is it just simply goaltending? if u could find a rule book reference that would be even of greater help. thank u, i appreciate it.

NOOO!!! Not this again!!

NF rule 10-3-6b - to intentionally slap the backboard while the ball is in flight on a tap/try, is in the imaginary cylinder, or is on/in the basket is a technical foul. IT IS NOT, UNDER NF OR NCAA RULES, BASKET INTERFERENCE OR GOALTENDING!!

so its a technical foul, 2 shots and the ball regardless if the shot is made or not?

Yes - points are not awarded.

If, however, the ball is clearly going in, you might pass on the technical foul, as it did not affect the shot.

The shot counts, or not, on it's own accord.

I wouldn't pass on the T based on the shot. You wouldn't ignore any of the other Ts based on the shot, would you?

THe player is doing it to get attention. Give him the attention he deserves.
