Schools do not issue socks anymore. The NF took any reference to socks 8 or 9 years ago because schools or teams do not control what kind of socks. There was a rule that time about how many logos and the size of the logos on the socks. Well that was a disaster and the NF realized this was not an issue the rules should try to regulate.

Peace

Shoes and Socks

If I were a high school point guard, I wouldn't wear any shoes or socks that would call attention to my feet, maybe I might get away with a travel or two that I Iwouldn't get away with if I was wearing striped socks and bright orange shoes.

Why? why? why? do we have to go and look for a reason to assert the little authority we have. Leave the socks alone!! GEESH!!

I've known coaches that actually insisted that their players wear black shoes. They think that they might steal the odd close OOB call by an official not noticing a black shoe barely touch a black boundary line. They reason that it's harder to pick up than a white shoe on a black line.

That's why I think the NF should decree all boundary lines to be puce.

Aw, they'd just puce on their shoes then.

The TV announcers for a football game last weekend were recommending this. That's how good an idea it is....:(

I have to admit that I am a little befuddled that funky socks aren't an issue. Yes they are not part of the "uniform", but they do want us to enforce such inane things as all players having the same color hair control device (aka a 1/2 inch piece of pre-wrap). Someone please reasonably tell me why that is important, but not fluorescent, polka- dotted socks.

...and don't say, "because it's in the rules".:)

Good grief, you want MORE details to have to monitor?? I don't. Thanks, anyway.

And why are fluorescent, polka-dotted socks important??? I don't get it... (but thanks for spelling fluorescent correctly!)

[QUOTE=hbioteach]All members of Team A are wearing: one white sock with red dots and one red sock with white dots. Socks go to just below the knee. Are they legal?
Nothing in rulebook about socks. I made them remove them. Distracting and confusing and worn for adornment.

Adornment...You're obviously getting soccer and b'ball confused. Nothing B'ball about socks anywhere.
