Kristi, Mark already answered this question, but what many people don't understand is that an attempted shot at the wrong basket is NOT considered a "try or tap for goal." Therefore, none of the rules governing a try or tap for goal apply. You almost have to think of it the same way you would a bad pass that just happened to go in the basket.
