F Throw marked lane space

This may have been discussed, but I don't believe the rule book states how far back a player may stand in the marked lane space. I have only seen one team that would place one player back about 4 ft from the marked lane space. I didn't think it was legal, but my co-official cautioned me about making the violation call. I can't seem to find anything in the rule book.

The only thing they did, was use this as a quick inbounds to this player on a made basket. I saw this several years ago, but never thought about it until this morning I was reading the NFHS Rules by Topic.

Lane spaces are 3 feet deep. 1-5-1, 9-1-3g (NFHS)

Agreed and I believe there are other references such as 8.1.4 or 5 that state how the lanes must be occupied. Anyone outside of the marked lane must be above the free throw line extended and outside the 3-point arc.

Also notice there is NO metric conversion listed. This is America!

What harm can the remaining 8.56 centimeters do? Just round to one meter, it's easier.

Do you know that also rugby went metric many years ago? And the 24 yard line became the 22m line?

Ciao

As Tommy Smothers once said when asked that - "Uh uh, not again."
