Most states usually seem to write the exam some time in November while some others don't write until December. Having advance knowledge of what the questions are, let alone the answers, means that any individual getting that information is defeating the whole idea of having an exam. To be quite blunt, again, it is nothing but cheating.

Most states seem to have some kind of requirement that officials study and know the rules of a particular sport, and thus can be tested to see if they actually do so. Passing the test with certain minimum marks also seems to be a prerequisite in most states to becoming certified, to advance to higher ratings and also to qualify for state playoffs.

Unfortunately, every year around this time, a bunch of low-life scumballs (not you, Trooper. I'm sure that you'd never cheat) show up here with the sole intention of finding someone with the FED exam so that don't have to study and do the work needed to become better officials. And a sad fact of life is that there are other low-life scumballs out there who are willing to send the exam to them. There's no way that we can stop these low-life scumballs from their cheating ways (actually there is if we can find out where they come from:) ), but we can certainly try to drive them underground and get them to cheat somewhere else. It's kind of amazing too that these particular posters only show up on this site to get the exam or the answers; we never see them post anything else again because they really aren't interested in doing any of the work needed to actually learn the rules, only in cheating so that they don't have to learn those rules. They're only cheating themselves, but that doesn't seem to matter to them.

If anyone feels that any of the above is maybe a little over the top, may I suggest that you contact your state governing body and get their view on officials getting and sharing the current year's NFHS exam or answers before it's scheduled to be written in their state. Aamof, just post your city and state and I'll get the answer for you. It's real easy to do. And btw, just because one state holds it's exam on a certain date doesn't mean that all states have held their exam by that date. Anyone posting exam answers here might be doing so before everybody has written their local exam.

Individual exam questions are certainly welcome here for discussion. Posting the complete current exam or the answers to all exam questions isn't. Anybody doing so best be prepared for what might be called a rather unfriendly reception.

Does that give you all the info needed to answer your questions, Trooper?

C'mon JR, tell us how you really feel.

Peace

Rut, I thought the reply was already on JR's hard drive in a word document. He just copied and pasted it here. IMO, It is similar every year to those who ask for the exam on a year basis.

Okay, I've read the entire thread, and need to summarize and clarify. Are you saying Jurassic has the answers to the 2008 NFHS exam hidden on a dusty hard drive in MTD's attic?

 Nah, I wouldn't put JR out like that. Just to further clarify, I'm saying JR have the yearly response to those seeking the exam on his hard drive in MTD's attic;)

Actually Jurassic does have the 2008 NFHS Part 1 exam and the answer sheet for it in a drawer about 3 feet from me. Wrote it a coupla weeks ago and marked my own. Got lucky and passed. My association won't be writing it for another month or so though.

It ain't getting posted here by me either.:)

How about old exams?

I am preparing to take the NFHS exam for the first time (trying to work up from the rec league ranks). Is it kosher to ask for a copy of an old NFHS exam? I don't care about the answers, that's my job; I just want to see how we will be tested. (If it's similar to the grammar atrocities they commit on the baseball exams, I guess I won't be surprised.)

That is entirely acceptable.

I find that the questions are really not as bad as some people make them out to be. More often than not, people that get a few wrong blame the question rather than themselves when they often read info info into the question that was not part of the question.

With that in mind, I would appreciate a copy of a 2007 or 2006 exam if anyone has one. Thanks in advance!

If you don't mind spending a buck or two, I've used this before and liked it.

BITS, I have to believe that you meant to post a link to ARS with that post. ;)

Blame it on CRS disease! :D

No replies from Trooper yet... I wonder why?

I'm not sure what CRS disease is, but it probably goes nicely with my OCD and ADD :D

And yes, the link, which is probably still on my clipboard of my computer at home, is http://www.rules-study.com/

I agree, ARS is a great rules study tool, but it's more than that. The indexed search capability is pretty useful as well. The 2007-2008 version isn't released yet, but I expect it will be in the next few weeks.......well worth the investment IMHO.

LHSAA Study Guide

http://www.lhsaa.org/officials/manua...StudyGuide.pdf

I haven't looked at all this yet this year, but I'm guessing it is last year's guide updated for this year's changes, maybe?

It is a list of t/f test type questions which will make you read your books.

In the past there were some questions which I considered poorly written, a few to the point of being unanswerable.
