Actually I am not broken hearted. This was just another game in the bigger picture. At least Michigan had an opportunity to win a National Championship and neither North Carolina school can even win an ACC Title. This was not a conference game and it will be a big wake up call. Then again, I am not jumping on a bandwagon for the moment either. I have always been a Michigan fan as long as I have been alive.

You can keep trying to make all the comments, but I would not be surprised if Michigan wins more games than both the schools I mention like they have the past several years. At least there is hope in Ann Arbor. At Duke and North Carolina there is no hope. One lost does not lose a season.

At least Desmond Howard won a major award in football. Who has done that at the other schools in NC?

Peace

LOL!!!!

It's a riot that you keep trying to make this about Duke and North Carolina. it aint' about them...it's about

Appalachian State 34
#5 Michigan 32

I guess if Chuck was yanking your chain, you'd be trying to bring the Red Sox into this!

But I'll play along!

Duke football sucks!
Carolian football sucks!

But it was the mighty Big Blue that lost to a former I-AA school, with 1500 total students enrolled, from the podunk mountain town of Boone, NC!

HAIL TO THE VICTORS!!!

Unless you went to App. state, I find it funny that you keep trying to make this an issue with me. It was a great game for that school. It was one of the biggest upsets in college football history. I know the Referee on the game and I talked to him briefly tonight and I also know one of the deep wings and talked to him as well. It was a great game to watch I am sure.

You claim UNC all the time here and I find it odd that this is something you keep trying to dig me on. If you are going to give me **** about Michigan and their loss, and then just confine yourself to the reality that football in North Carolina at the D1 A level is just sad. And Butch Davis is not going to change that. This is just one game, no one will see another game from any other school from NC on national TV but this weekend. So get used to it. Michigan will have a winning season and likely make a New Year’s Bowl once again and have a player or two competing for major awards in college. While UNC and Duke will not win 3 games each and be waiting and hoping for basketball to start.

Honestly, the sad part is that App State is likely the only North Carolina team that has the capability to beat Michigan. If Illinois State beat North Carolina I know I would not give a damn either way. I did not go to Illinois State and other than living in the state I would not claim such a victory. I guess other than spitting tobacco there is not much to do down there.

Peace

The real beauty of all of this, which very few people are discussing, is what this score is going to do to the BCS ratings of the Big Ten teams this year. As the season progresses, App St. will play other FCS schools and its numbers and strength of schedule will rapidly decline, the fact that they defeated Michigan will pull down Michigan's numbers. The lower Michigan numbers will pull down those of every other team in the Big Ten as Michigan plays them, no matter who wins the game.

It is now rather likely that if a Big Ten school goes undefeated this season and so do teams from the PAC-10 and SEC or Big East, that it will be two non-Big Ten schools playing in the BCS title game. The Michigan fans may actually get to take some joy in the fact that through the computers their loss may end up screwing either Ohio State or Wisconsin.

Tony sounds like a typical Cubs fan. You are happy you are in first place, but you have not banners on the flag pole. Like I have told many Cubs fans many, many times before. You might have won a series but we (Cardinals) have been to multiple World Series in my life time and have won more than once. The Cubs have not been one time to the World Series.

Peace

Oh Jeff, don't be such a whiney a$$...I'm just yanking you're chain.

I don't have to confine myself to pulling for just one team. Anytime an ACC team plays a team outside the conference, I pull for them, no matter the sport. Anytime an NC school plays someone outside the state, I pull for them, especially when there's such a decided underdog.

I'll leave you alone before you cry.

Yea, and Oregon plays Michigan this coming weekend. It'll be a disaster for Oregon!

She actually announced that she's going to attend App State. Don't worry, Padgett - the jokes about her being the football team's inspiration last week have already been made.

Hey!

How did I get dragged into this?!?

One thing being a Cubs fan has taught me: humility. I still root for them, no matter how it ends up. I'm enjoying this season, because there are meaningful games being played in Sept. But I'm as nervous as a cat in a rocking chair factory, because I know nothing is definite yet. If they win, it will be great. If they lose, I'll take the abuse. (God knows I'm used to that...) The Cardinals have proven that the best team doesn't always win the World Series. The Cardinals have lost more World Series than the Cubs. What does that prove, exactly?

If you're going to openly root for a team, you better be prepared to take the abuse when they lose.

Especially when they lose in spectacular fashion.

To an unranked, unknown, Div. 1-AA team.

In a game many are calling the greatest upset ever. (...snicker...)

Hey, if it makes you feel better to point out that other teams are famous for losing, go for it. About half the teams that play any given game, lose.

But not to APPALACHIAN STATE! HA HA HA HA!

This is, of course, a rough estimate.

I think they play hickey. At least, that's what I played in college.
