Everything that Mathis says is biased by his huge grudge against the NBA. Apparently he's upset that he isn't an observer or a supervisor of NBA officials. The chip on his shoulder is huge.

Thumbs down

I'd like to get Mathis over here to work a 3rd grade game in our local rec league and have to put up with those parents and coaches. He might appreciate the NBA a little more after that.

One of the things that Mathis said that was not true is that all other leagues only use officials that work the Super Bowl or Stanley Cup to be observers. That is not entirely true. There are people in the NFL that did not even work in the NFL but were hired as evaluators. Also understand that evaluators are usually older, retired guys that when they officiated the game many mechanics and procedures changed. Many of the things that once were done could not be taught anymore. When I watch officials in the 70s and 80s their mechanics were terrible if we used today’s standards. Not all the top officials in their career can teach officiating or even have the background to teach things they were not required to do. It takes a lot of skill and understanding to teach anything and just because you worked the top games does not make you a good evaluator of officiating.

It appears that Mathis has a grudge for some reason and I am not sure why he feels that way.

Peace
