No Violation!
if any part of a player is touching the midcourt stripe they are in their backcourt.

Good call!

I B1 is mostly in their front court except for their foot being on the mid court stripe and then passes to a teamate fully in backcourt, it may look bad but you have nothing.

Rule 3 both feet and ball only applies to a dribbler, not a stationary player.

Great no-call!

As Ron said, if any part of the player is touching the backcourt, they are still in the backcourt.

I will add that I believe (if I am reading their rule correctly) that the NBA does rule differently on this. Once the ball is past the division line they may not pass to a teammate in the backcourt. There rules says that the ball not in player control is in the frontcourt if it has passed the line. As soon as the ball is release and player control ends, the ball is in the frontcourt.

This play occurred in a varsity girls basketball game.

A1 is dribbling in the front court near the top of the key. B1 knocks the ball towards backcourt and a scramble ensues. B1 eventually falls on top of the ball with her chest and arms in her front court and waist and legs in the backcourt. She gathers the ball and passes backwards to B2 who is totally in the backcourt and starts a fastbreak. Coach A is screaming for a backcort violation. This was a bang bang play and the quickest response that I could think off was the rule of 3. (Both feet and the ball to establish frontcourt) My parnter thought I had a good call. One of the officials working the next game in the tournament thought it was backcourt. I talked over with most of the guys I work with and they were about 50/50 each way. Help me out here.

Thanks

Just to change the proportion of opinions even further in the "correct" direction, I agree with all of the above. No violation if any part of her body was touching the backcourt (HS rules, of course). What does your poll say now?
