In one of the 16 total minutes I've watched the tournament, I saw Gray (sp?) give Motta the stop sign. I didn't see that it led to an immediate T.

Oh -- let me add that I got dragged to an NBA game the other night. I saw the lead counting 5-seconds.

I'm not saying that either of these officials "got it right."

I believe that your NBA ref did get it right. The Lead has a visible count on "back-to-the-basket" plays.

NBA and NCAA-W both can have a 5 second count at lead if it's in their primary.

The NBA 5 second count is when the player with the ball has his back to the basket. There is no 5 second closely guarded in the NBA.

Actually it's when the player is below the free throw line extended and DRIBBLING with his back to the basket, but let's not get too technical.

I guarantee that Donnee also said something while putting his hand up. Something like, "Coach, that's enough" or "Coach, I heard you" or "Coach, please settle down". And I didn't see the incident but I'm also willing to guarantee that his hand was only raised to about waist level.

Thad Matta is lucky Karl Hess was not the official. "Rabbit Ears" Hess calls more Technicals than any other official. Sean McDonough was talking about how Hess is too sensitive & calls way too many Technicals in key spots.

Donnee Gray handled things much better than Hess does.

Sigh....

Another new poster who's only purpose in coming here is to crap all over the officials from the comfort of his La-Z-Boy Not only that, he's quoting a freaking announcer as a reliable source. Every freaking year these damn fanboys show up.
