A T in this situation is only asking for a lot of trouble down the road. Sure it is the "correct ruling" but I would have a really hard time calling something like that. Everything that I have ever been taught is to keep the game flowing as best you can. Not only does this stop the flow but you will hear from both coaches on every potential flop by the defense. Plus if I was the coach of the team rewarded by the T you would have lost all credibility with me. My next question would be did they gain an advantage? If no advantage, then did they put themselves in a disadvantage? If so, tough luck! Also maybe just maybe they didn't really want to take the charge and they chickened out. Would you stay in way of some 250 - 300lb guy when you don't get paid to?
