The same reason that Florida didn't go to the South: the top 4 teams were seeded so that if all 4 get to Atlanta, the seeds would be paired #1 vs.#4 and #2 vs. #3. Florida were the 4 seed, which left them facing the Florida bracket. The brackets are West vs. Midwest and East vs. South. Based on the seeding, there's no way Kansas stays in the Midwest. Besides, OSU wouldn't have been the #1 in the Midwest over Kansas if they had gone your route as they were seeded #3.

Are you sure about that? I thought I heard the talking heads saying that Florida was the top overall seed. But Kansas gets the winner of the 64/65 game. Does that mean that Kansas is the overall top seed?

I guess I'm confused about how the top #1 seed is chosen and placed.

Nevada,

I have come to respect your rules knowledge but your college basketball knowledge is suspect. Trot out your argument for K. State over GT.

Florida is the #1 overall seed, at least according to what the CBS show said last night. As far as the 64/65 game goes, they always place the winner of that game into a Friday/Sunday pod. My guess is, is that because both Florida and Kansas are in a Friday/Sunday pods, Kansas is getting the winner of the 64/65 game because of travel -- Florida is playing in New Orleans vs. Kansas playing in Chicago (64/65 game is in Dayton, OH)

I'm a big MO State fan, but they just didn't deserve it this year. All they could point to was an early win over Wisconsin and they made it through round one of the MVC tournament. They had higher RPI and SOS numbers last year and didn't get the call either (though they got bounced in the first round of the MVC tournament in 06).

Still, plenty of good action to see this weekend...a few of the 8/9 match-ups look tough! :)
