Two quick questions
Help me out guys im having a CRS day,
I walk in at the end of a game, friend comes over and asks how this could be. An intentional foul was called, A1 shot 4 free throws, then A1's team given the ball. I asked if a T was called after the Int. he said no. There is no other way to be rewarded 4 shot is there? Second question, For NFHS rules, when does the basket count on an offensive foul? |

I saw this in a local game this year. It's wrong. No 4 free throws for an intentional foul.
2 shots and the ball, even if the basket is good. could be 3 shoots and the ball on a 3 point shot. No basket on an offensive foul, but if the shooter is fouled by another player while in the air then commits an offensive foul, I believe he can shoot 2 shoots. I know some one will find that rule, but I think I am correct. I think we are looking at rule 4-11, 4-19-6, 9 Last edited by Terrapins Fan; Mon Mar 05, 2007 at 12:47pm. |

NFHS rules.
I don't believe any player control foul basket counts. You could say he landed then ran into the player, but no basket for a player control foul in high school no matter when the ball was released. |

In order for the basket to count:
If the foul is against the defense, then the shooter needs only to have started his normal shooting motion prior to the foul; even if the shooter is not the offensive player who was fouled. If the foul is against an offensive player without the ball, the shot needs to have been released prior to the foul. If the foul is a double foul involving an airborne shooter, the shot needs to have been released prior to the foul in order to count.

If the ball is in the air when a foul occurs, the goal counts if successful. The ball becomes dead momentarily as it passes through the basket. Any contact that is not flagrant or intentional should be ignored. Had this in a game of mine this year. Shooter was fouled in the act (T called foul) and C had pushing foul on rebound. I was T and U1. I could not convince my partners to wipe off the rebounding foul even after the game they disagreed with me. Mregor

To the second question,
player stole ball at midcourt and was going in for a layup with defender following, he then pushed player from behind with both hands to the back. I originally stated that it should have been two free throws and the ball, and then asked if a T had been given after the fact, because that's the only way that 4 free throws could have been awarded. Agreed? |
