Where Can I Find List Of Ncaa Bb Refs?

I've tried the NCAA website and could not find a listing. Maybe I'm not "searching" with the correct lead words.

Anyone have the list?

I dont think you will find a list anywhere. Unless you are in a conference, you will only get the list of people in that conference. What do you need it for anyway, if you dont mind me asking.

Just interested to see where, geographically, they all come from. How long they have been in the biz....number of men vs. woman officiating.....average age....demographic junk like that!

They're independent contractors. That type of information is not going to be publicly available.

We can surmise some things. I'll start:

Steve Welmer:
  • early 50s
  • been doing NCAA for 20 years, I bet
  • somebody knows how many final fours he has done
  • has a drinking game after him

I don't believe he has done a final four. I know there was talk on here the last couple of years around tourney time about him. I could be wrong but I thought that is what I had heard.

Welmer has never worked the final four.

Here's a link to the list of all the officials who have worked the Final Four. It's broken down by year and it notes who worked the Championship game. This is from the NCAA's Final Four Record book p.24-25 (p.25-26 of the pdf).

what makes 1986 unique???

It contains either the only guy or 1 of only 2 guys to work the final four and a Super Bowl.....

Sometimes referee magazine publishes a list of referees by conference near the start of the season. That would be your best bet.

using the list of officials from previous Final Fours....I'm guessing that Jim Burr is going to work this years' Final Four....seeing that he has worked 14 of the last 17 years!!!!!!
