New Contacts

Well, I have taken the plunge and gotten them. But I am getting a bit of nausea while driving. Wondered how long it takes to get used to them. I have done one scrimmage and have another tomorrow. I stocked up on non-drowsy dramamine just in case the nausea stays with me. It is not present when I am walking around.

On the other hand, I can see distances a bit better and as long as I am not reading close-up [hopefully the scorebooks are not going to be an obstacle] I should be okay in that dept. What are your experiences? Thanks.

It doesn't take too long. I remember when I first got them the biggest pain was putting them in. Speaking of new contacts, I got the newest kind on Tuesday. They are designed not to dry out as fast. I was running into a problem sometimes whenever I was on the court and sweat or just running would dry them out. Problem taken care of now, I've used them twice, Tuesday night and this morning -- no problems!

By the way, the new contacts I have are the Acuvue Advance with Hydraclear.

Getting the first one in is the easy part. The second one is a bugger. I'd get T'd up for sure. They are extended wear. But I have to build up to the 30 days. This time it is 3 days, then 7, then a couple weeks. Then I will only be playing sailor once a month. Verbally speaking.

I wear contacts for games only. I arrive in glasses...put them in and then they come out right after a game. I dislike driving at night with them. The only bad thing I have encountered is that checking the book is a bit commical at times. Can see down the street...cant read the names in the scorebook

update

Today I drove 78 miles for a scrimmage--actually it was a DH. Took some Dramamine before heading out and that seemed to do the trick. I didn't notice them as much today as I did on Tuesday, which was my first day with them. I think I'm gonna make it.

Be careful with the Dramamine, it works great for putting you to sleep. We use to give it to our kids on a long trip and they would sleep through the whole thing. Very seldom did we get a "are we there yet?"

They have a non-drowsy formula. I checked that out right away.
