Walking Shoes -- Your Opinion

On another thread someone stated that they were going to use walking shoes to officiate in this year. I almost ended up with a serious injury from using them once. I told him the response from most of you would be not to use them. Let's hear from you. Chime in on this one and give your opinion.

I can't comment from direct experience, but it only makes sense walking shoes wouldn't work very well for officiating. There's way too much lateral movement that walking shoes wouldn't be designed to support. As I've gotten older, I've realized shoes are more important than just the cool designs.

Now, if only I can convince my daughter of that...

That'd also be a good answer to the coach when they ask "why didn't you call that".... well coach I was out of position because my shoes are walkers.

Do ya think there'd be a T issued here?!

I know some guys hang their hat on wearing "court shoes" for their lateral support. I wear running shoes and have for a few years now. I don't see a need for the lateral support but sure do enjoy the additional cushioning and comfort. However, I put my foot down (pun intended) when it comes to walking shoes.
