You're missing the point entirely. Officials don't wear shoes with colors on them because...well, because other officials don't do it. To wear such a shoe as this would not sit well with those all-important really influential old dinosaurs who assign games. But you must understand, with all their vast years of knowledge and experience, there's no room left in their little minds for new thoughts about footwear. Besides, if they turned an approving eye toward something as shockingly unconventional as shoes with colors other than black, that would start us down the slippery slope to such abominations as, dare I say it?, shorts. It would be the end of life as we know it.
