Completely ignoring bebanovich's complex economic discussion, I"ll just report on ref pay in the Portland, Oregon area.
Varsity is around $45 JV is around $40 Frosh around $38 ish JH $25? $28? It depends on which size school. Girls/boys games are the same pay. If you do a doubleheader, you get the sum of what you would have gotten if you did those games separately. All games are 2-whistle. |

I would say that you could get a pretty good idea of where an area's ref fees are by looking at the price of homes in the area. There should be a decent parallel. Now for the current per game fees in NV: Varsity 3-man(large schools): $46 per official Varsity 2-man(small schools): $56 JV 2-man: $40 Frosh 2-man: $40 Plus there is a travel fee of 40.5 cents/mile when driving out of town. |
Northern VA:
Freshman (2 whistle) - $45 JV (2 whistle) - $45 Varsity (all are 3-whistle) - $60 Clock in Varsity game - $30 (We do this in 15 -20 schools) Rec ball (all 2-whistle) is $32-$38 So, someone doing a F/JV DH and the clock in the varsity game would make $120.00. Not a bad night's pay. |
Southern New Jersey:
$62 for two-whistle varsity $52 for three whistle varsity $44 frosh and JV $35-44 junior high I don't think it's bad at all, but a lot of our guys have been complaining because the rates have been about the same for the last five years. |
The "cost of living" statement makes sense to me. What about Hawaii? EVERYTHING cost more there. Anybody working games there?
