Hi All,
today, in a developmental league (NJB for those who know), with extra strict rules on sportsmanship, there was a particular fan that needed to be dealt with. so this guy in the stands is chirpin' in the 1st Q, when I didn't even notice until my partner brought it up during a timeout. at the end of the first, my partner addresses the man, expressing the nature of the league. then there are sparse chirps throughout the game, but easily discarded. 4QTR now, this guy is yelling at us officials at the top of his lungs, i let the play end with the opposing team scoring the goal (now deadball), blow the whistle and give him the finger....the ejection finger that is...Tossed with "You're Out!" and walked away. everyone, including the other fans, teams, and table were all behind me cheering it on. guess everyone else was sick of him too. my partner had my back and escorted him out the gym. i calmed both teams down, with them understanding that cheering an ejection is also unsportmanlike. they kindly nodded and sat down. play went on with no further incidents. my first ejection, with everyone in the gym's support, felt really good! ::and the violin plays on::

Next time, have someone such as security, site manager, etc. do it. Don't make such a spectacle.

quite honestly, because of the type of league it is, there isnt really an 'official' site administrator. plus the parents and fans really are great parents and fans, and probably ejecting him was for HIS own safety too  but, true. if it were a different situation, someone would definitely be taking care of such matters.

Tossed my first fan over the break. I went back to KS to ref with my old crew and it was late in the game. I was C opposite table and my partner was under the basket. A player from B stayed back and provided a little pressure as the rest of team B was at half court or behind. As I turn back to take a quick look to see if the ball is inbounded, I see A1 looks to have lost her balance and tripped a little (Partner tells me after the game that he could have had a foul but A was up by 20 with less than 2:00 to go and he didn't want to put them at the line PLUS he said "there was no advantage gained... the girl didn't fall, she didn't travel etc...) Anyway as I turn to head up the court I see a parent from team A stand up in the front row, point dead at me and say "Blow the whistle Flippin A$$hole!" So... I did and found the administrator and had him removed. Before the start of the Boys game we were at the table and the scorekeeper said "It is about time somebody got rid of him."

Worked a HS Varsity Game this weekend. Home team has a group of "superfans" that put on some John Stockton style shorts, tanktops, face paint, headbands, etc. The school has no cheerleaders, so these guys are kind of the "unofficial" cheerleaders as well. Anyhow, some of their comments Saturday night were rather amusing as they tried to rattle the visiting team. However, at one point, one of my partners heard one of the kids say, "Hey #3, your mom told me you have gonnorhea." Next timeout, partner went to the AD and informed him of the situation. Of course, in good administrative form, they just sat on their @$$e$.

There is one venue on the circuit where this teacher is constantly unleashing a loud barrage toward the officials, mostly he's doing counts of 3 seconds, closely guarded, etc. Once last year, in the 2nd game about the 3rd quarter, one of the officials during a dead ball, said, "It's time for you to go." "You're right," he said. And he grabbed his hat and coat and left.

At one of my JV games earlier this year we had a fat guy sitting at mid-court who questioned every call. He wasn't swearing or anything like that, but he was very obnoxious. My partner and I couldn't do anything right. If we call a foul on the visiting team he'd ask why didn't you call it earlier. If we call a foul on the home team, well, you can imagine how he acted. We pretty much tuned him out.
Anyway, in the varsity game he's complaining to the referees just like in our game. I notice in the second quarter, he is no longer talking. At halftime, I asked the referees about it. One of the refs said to him, "I hope your car can pick up this game on the radio (small town and a local radio station was broadcasting the game), because if you don't shut up that's the only way you're going to know who wins." I don't know what he would have said to him if the game wasn't on the radio!
