Wink

Mick, rockyroad,

I heard that Barkley & Dr J will be suiting up for the
finals so there's nothing to worry about...now all we gotta
do is figure out how to take 20 yrs off of each of them!
...OK, maybe 30 yrs for Julius...

handling the pressure.
With the mouth that Cassell has on him, I can't believe it ttok as long as it did for him to get popped. But the comments that Salvatore made to Ray Allen were interesing. He said "I gave him enough rope." Cassell took care of the rest!

I'm with mick. I think LA will become the first team to ever go through the playoffs undefeated.

They are wonderful. It'll be "Showtime" again.

Hmmm, not quite sure I can say that Shaq + Kobe =
Kareem + Magic, but man they are good. Maybe they
will sweep their next 4, I just wanted to see how Iverson
does against them (I'm not so optimistic given his
performance so far vs the Bucks).

Personal Experience

I had two BI calls today. First I hit the whistle and gave the "basket counts" foul-type signal. Second I hit the whistle and then gave the three-point signal.

Of course, both times that I called it, the ball was 90% through (and went all the way), so people just gave me a funny look like "what was that?"

Hmmm. I'm betting it was on the defense.

Defensive (I hope I got the shirt colors right). Both were those brush-the-net-as-the-ball-drops-through type.

If it were offensive, the players would have probably outright attacked me.

How tight do you more experineced folks call this? I've tended to let it go in the past, if it's just a brush as the ball slides through. Should I be cracking down a little?

Mark, I hope both calls were against the defense if you counted the baskets!

Juulie, if the ball is in tha basket and goes through, then let it go. Obviously you want a whistle if the ball doesn't go through the basket. But if the ball is going through the net uninterrupted, don't interrupt the game by making the call.

Good advice for you too, Mark.

Tony,
It was probably from C.
I know it was table side, though, maybe....
Of course, I was nicely closed down on the shot

Yes, they were both on the defense.

I agree that this call should usually be passed (because the points are awarded either way.) However, something I discussed a few seasons back was end of period/game, where the whistle causes the clock to stop and lets subs in. What would you do (defensive BI, but good anyways) if:
(a) Stopping the clock benefited the defense
(a)(i) The defense purposely BI'd to stop the clock
(b) Stopping the clock benefited the offense
(c) It benefited both teams

I would pass on the whistle and let play continue.
