I think what we might have been finding were a lot of confused coaches/fans when we were calling that an illegal dribble, because in their minds they're thinking: "Double dribble? He never stopped dribbling."

So some officials (I'm guilty of this) were signalling the illegal dribble, then selling/explaining it by following it with the carry signal. Personally, I'm happy to have the carry back....
