22. A-1 is holding the ball in the frontcourt & closely guarded by B-1. As the official count is at 2, A-2 takes & holds a position between A-1 and B-1. Official stops the count. Correct?

The answer is NO!

Let me get this straight. So any time another offensive player takes a position in front of a closely guarded teammate I should discontinue the 5 sec count?

The answer sheet be damned I going to continue counting.

The answer sheet makes sense.

If another offensive player gets in between, then you've got the defender with LGP on the new offensive player.

You can't have guarding position on 2 players at once.

If it did say so, where does it say which one is the one being guarded.?

The case book example (9.10.1 Situation D (b)) has four players surrounding the dribbler and it says that this is a closely guarded situation.

I'm still counting!
