Just hoping that this forum will focus more
on improving knowledge and spend less time with
off-topic posts and bickering this new season.

I'll be recruiting and training a large group in the next
few weeks and will be directing them to this site as
a great resource for rules, philosophy and the like.
Oops and the occassional good-natured humor.

Please give them what they need to become successful officials.

BTW thank you to those who helped to improve my list of
Most Misunderstood Rules.
I'll make sure to note that a coach can only "request" the timeout.

Have a great season.

You got it, Barry. I'll cut back on my Red Sox posts to less than 6 a day. I can't go without bickering, tho. So you're screwed there.

And the bickering! Mad love for the bickering!! And then you must give us all a good spanking!

I thought BillyMac put that together. He's a Connecticut guy, isn't he? http://officialforum.com/thread/22184 Maybe there's another list that I missed while I was bickering. . .

If you don't grant it, is he allowed to bicker? Is he an African or European swallow coach?

Thanks for letting us know what's appropriate to think and write.

Now, Chuck, surely those Idiots aren't feeling as much pressure as you are right now. So don't take it out on poor ol' bossref. Besides, I never thought we did much bickering on this site. It's all good information, right?

Hey Barry, sorry you think we're screwing off on the job but even in my real job (which I don't do for free btw...well close to free but not entirely free) we get to have fun every now & then.

More than likely you'll have little left to say about your beloved Red Sox by Saturday, Sunday at the latest.

Now, I would've directed them to the National Ferderation:

Naw, they can get an idea about the rules from the NFHS web site, but the San Diego chapter of the CBOA will give them the proper training and get them into high school ball in their area, and maybe even beyond if they're good enough. The CBOA is the recognized officials association for all of CA. At least, that was my impression. Maybe somebody from CA can correct me if I'm wrong.

Btw, what's a "ferderation". A nation comprised of Ferds?

Hey Chuck, Your Red Sox are in a world of s**t. No one one to get it to your closer. Oh I forgot you have no closer. White Sox are hoping the Red Sox are the Wild Card. They're the best match up for them. Hey who's going to take Bucky ****** Dent as the Yankees hero this year!!!!!!!!!!!!!

A Ferd is a F*!#@n Nerd. And apparently I'm President. Be careful; don't be takin' Mr. Spelling Guy's job.

I don't disagree, I was just trying to point out all possibilities. I was also going to point out the NCAA website as well for some rule info. But there is no better way to learn than to be a member of a local association. I have worked with officials that didn't even belong to our local association ("Aw, it's just a waste of time, and it's so political..."), and it shows. They have no real clue as to what's happening on the floor.
