Mick! Shut up!
When I was a parent, we'd allowed [tolerated] some pretty nasty responses in our house U.P. here, but those two words were never permitted.
So, ... I cannot hear you.
There!

Just glad to make my contribution.

Sometimes you people are funny!
Let's all agree that "guys/gals" is the politically correct way to include everyone, and that "guys (gals)" is definitely over the line.

Whether or not a person approves of being concerned about political correctness, let's at least agree about what it is. That way, when someone is politically incorrect that person can at least have the satisfaction of being consciously obnoxious. Why offend people inadvertantly and not get to enjoy it?
The correct usage of words most often comes from the common usage of words. Check older dictionaries in comparison to current ones. You'll find several words that were commonly used in conversation and writing well before the dictionaries reflected that common usage. Dictionary entries are created based on usage, not to define usage.

There are many people who use you guys as a general term for people of both genders. If it is not currently so , it will one day be considered acceptable in spite of the crusades of the political correctness police.

Re: Re: why???

So what is ewes guys? I often hear that one in the movies - generally by some high school drop out gangster/mafia dude/dudette. Ewes guys - Male or Female? Transgender?

And now we're adding "dearie" to the mix. I suppose the gender connotation of that word depends upon the gender of the one saying it? And is this term singular or plural?

I'm getting so cornfuzled.
