Although we may never agree on the outcome of these rambling threads that get closed from time to time, I think the exchange of opinion is the second greatest feature of this board (after education).
Even if you think various people are talking out of their butts, when you understand that intelligent people can look at the same thing as you and see something entirely different, that's when you begin the road to tolerance. Sometimes there is no right or wrong, just different. |

I completely agree.

Then post them on the General Discussion board because they have nothing to do with basketball.
Kudos to whoever locked the stupid things.

I hate to be a grump, but I agree with Tony. Those discussions of race and/or politics are NEVER productive on this forum. Move them to the General Forum, so they can be beaten to death.

Trigger, the problem is not that they're off-topic. We have off-topic threads in here all the time, including obviously the baseball thread. The problem is that the race/politics threads descend almost immediately into anger, name-calling, or just plain nonsense. They are never productive.

It has been years since I have enjoyed that game. Although, gittin' the cards certainly carries a lot of weight, I consider 500 one of the purest forms of card playing in that luck seemingly plays a smaller part of the result. mick |

We played a lot in college and a bunch of us got together for a football game not long ago. We started playing at about 12 AM and finished at about 3AM. It was a blast! The only thing missing was oversleeping and having to run to a 9 AM class wearing the same clothes as the night before. In Trigger's defense, my partner and I had the Joker most of the night.
