I was checking out the following website (BOSS Officials http://www.sdboss.com) after reading the thread about the assualt case. Anyways, I saw where they issue a navy (pre-game) jacket.

The manual states you can wear either navy or black, but you have to match. I would guess black is the preferred color for a pre-game jacket -- as it is in my area.

Does anyone own a navy pre-game jacket and have you ever used it?

When I first started the color of jacket that my association used was Navy. So I used a navy colored jacket for about 3 years. The IHSA then wanted every official to use Black.

Peace

One of my local associations used to have a navy jacket, but they also do softball, baseball, volleyball, and football. I would assume the navy jacket looks good with the blue umpire's uniform. The basketball-only association I belong to uses only black. I would hope most people use the black; I'm not sure navy goes with the black pants from a fashion perspective. After all, it's all about looking good out there!

Speaking of fashion, my wife has standing orders: if she ever sees me wearing plaid shorts, black ankle socks and wingtips to shoot me on the spot.

The Oklahoma OSSAA required a Navy jacket until two years ago when they switched to black.

TSSAA had blue jackets when I lived in Tennessee.

The NCHSAA used blue jackets up until about 4 years ago.

The present jacket, which is the Sahara jacket that the CCA uses is the $hittiest clothing item I have ever owned. It costs me $45 but probably costs $3 to manufacture. It's a piece of crap.

The spot nearest the violation, of course

There is one association in Illinois that wears white while the state prefers black. All the "big guns" in the Chicago area are in that association.

Please - no flaming the "big guns" phrase.

I will not get into the particulars. But this association is allowed to only wear those jackets during the regular season. Once the post season comes all officials are supposed to wear black. This group is the only one in the state that I am aware of that has a closed membership. I will leave it at that.

Peace
