Had this happen to me last night in an 11U AAU national tournament. Coach got T'd...asst. coach gets a T...followed by another. Now we have 1 direct on coach, 2 direct on asst...making a total of three direct/indirect on coach. Both are escorted out of the venue...but we first tell coach to pick another adult or forfeit. He picks a dad out of the stands to complete the last 2 minutes of the game (fortunately the game was not that close, and the adult quietly completed his task after 6 free throws). Anyone know AAU prescribed procedure for this? I would have hated to have a team forfeit after traveling thousands of miles to a national tournament...and imagine the 11 year olds horror at watching this go on at their bench!

3.Bench Personnel:
a. A team may have on its bench only the eligible persons listed on its official roster, including four (4)
non-players (coaches, ball boy, scorekeeper, etc.). Only eligible players may wear uniforms on the bench.
b. At least one person age 18 or older must be on the bench at all times.
If as the result of a removal, illness, etc., no roster member of the minimum age of 18 available,
tournament administrators shall select a person of suitable age to supervise the bench.

Shouldn't that be the coaches' main concern?

Yes, Dan_Ref, it should have been...but from the behavior I have witnessed this week, I wonder if ANYBODY has any concern for these kids...that includes the parents who entrust their sons to coaches like this (and there is no shortage of similar coaches in this tourney)...more appaling than any high school games I've done. Yes, Mark. Call it an Officials' Happy Hour...two ejections for the stress of one...and the sad part is they were all assessed within a period of approximately 45 seconds.
