I think advantage/disadvantage is not the only deciding factor. I think if player A keeps getting slapped silly, eventually, he's is going to get the feeling the refs are not protecting him. In that case, he'll start protecting himself. Then the trouble starts.
If A grabs a rebound, and B tries to smack away the ball and hits him on the arm, I'm calling a foul, whether the ball is dislodged or not. I think it cuts down on the free-for-all after a rebound.

I don't mind Rasheed when he isn't talking.

ChrisSportsFan,
Yeah, Sheed is talking, whining some, but my Pistons obviously need Sheed's emotion as well as Shaq's and Duane's injuries in order to get to attend the finals.

...And even more important, they have to the ball in the hole.

Uhmmm...hitting the rebounder on the arm is going to disrupt the play. That would be a foul...I never said anything about the ball HAVING to be dislodged - that is one factor, but the smack on the arm is disrupting the play.

What the picture doesn't show is a few seconds later, after Rasheed's passed off, and he's screaming at the nearest official....

"C'MON THAT'S A MOTHER&^%%$% FOUL, YOU #$%#%$$%^$^&** !!!!"
