High school game- Player A sets a Screen for Player B and Player A releases a shot. Once the shot is off Player B is fouled by the defender trying to move through the pick. Does the basket count and are foul shots awarded?

I re-read my original post and it is not correct.
It should have read High school game- Player A sets a Screen for Player B and Player B releases a shot. Once the shot is off Player A is fouled by the defender trying to move through the pick. Does the basket count and are foul shots awarded? |

The nomenclature we use always has "A"s as offensive players and "B"s as defensive players. Were you aware of that? |

Usually we refer to offensive teammates as A1, A2, A3 etc--and defensive teammates as B1, B2, B3 etc. In your situation are you saying that A1 set a screen for teammate A2, and A1 is then fouled by a defensive player after A2 had shot the ball but before the basket was made? |

Additionally......
By the way, the shot does not have to be in the air. As long as an offensive player has started his shooting motion, any defensive foul will not kill the play. Same penalty as a shooter getting fouled. However, if the foul is on the screener(A-2), the ball must be in the air to count. In this situation, there will be no shots as it is a team control foul(b4 the release). If the ball is in the air, then team control has ceased and the defense would shoot if in the bonus.
