I think I premised this statement by acknowledging that no one was saying you can't have a foul by the defender in a play where the dribbler initiates the contact. I was just throwing this out there for discussion.

OK, lets make it complicated. The defender does not have legal guarding position. I can see the dribbler initiating contact and we have a foul on the defender. I'm not refering to your play b/c I think you made it clear there was not a foul. I know you didn't say the following as a blanket statement, However, I don't think we can say anytime a dribbler initiates contact then we don't have a foul.
Not having LGP does not mean that the offensive player can overtly cause contact and get the call.

B1 is attempting to beat A1 to the basket. Realizing he/she can't get there B1 jumps away from A1 doing everything possible to avoid contact.

A1 jumps away from their path to the basket and into the retreating B1. To me LGP is not a factor in this type of play.

A1 made their bed and can lie in it.

He didn't. He said, "Told ya" which actually falls into a gray area. The Miss Manners etiquette book lists "I told you so" as the officially incorrect wording. Other phrasing, when it implies a relationship of gentle ribbing can be acceptable, depending on how the speaker inflects the voice. If no offense is intended, and none is taken, then the exchange can be considered to have been correct. :D
