wow, didn't know this was a site that allowed 4th graders on here...

4th graders are only allowed until the moderators see them, so I'm giving you about 15 more minutes and then it's....

In the words of fans everywhere...

WOW!! I'd sure like to see a call that resulted in a 56 point turnaround!

BTW - I hope your tape shows how many free throws and field goals the officials missed, plus the number of turnovers they made. :p

Dear Fanboys,

Yes, I know where Karl Hess is going to be this weekend: Austin. In an unprecedented move, Hank Nichols has already assigned Hess to work ALL THREE GAMES!!

He will work the Duke game, because he's in K's pocket; then he'll work the Kentucky game twenty minutes later. Now, read carefully, because I'm going to give you some dope here you won't read anywhere else. Hess is going to make absolute sure that Kentucky wins on Friday night; this, of course, is only to throw you off, to make you wrongly believe that he doesn't hate Kentucky with every breath he takes, also because he knows that it'll hurt Kentucky fans worse to lose to Duke again than to lose to Utah.

Then, Sunday afternoon, he will revert to his true colors, making sure that Hayes and Buike have at least five fouls between them by half-time, and that Duke gets exactly 59.81 per cent of the close calls down the stretch (for plausible deniability and all). Soon after Duke wins the game, Hess is going to emerge from the locker room still in full uniform with scissors in hand to give to Daniel Ewing, who will cut the first strands of net for the victors.

Enjoy Friday night, because Karl Hess is gonna rip your heart out Sunday afternoon. Tubby and company might as well not even show up, because they have no chance whatsoever to impact the outcome of the game. Nothing that happens will be their responsibility, not turnovers, not missed free throws, not bad switches, nothing.

Go Hess, and Go Duke.

I am really starting to enjoy when the fanboys come in here!!
I would like to add something to all of this but it has already been said.
I did hear that Nichols was looking at shipping Hess from Chicago to Austin!!

Kinda like dropping a goldfish into a piranha tank. I'll go pop some popcorn for the day's adventures.

I think I'll start referring people here to complain about the officials. Probably be able to get some Iowa fans here to complain about Ed Hightower. :)

Hey Tubby -

Rather than call you fanboy, I'll beat you with evidence. Fortunately, basketball mad UK fans keep track of certain things like UK's overall record with each official. Your record with Karl Hess? 14 wins, 5 losses. Doesn't sound like you've got too much to complain about. Don't believe me? Here's the link to your UK fan website:

Hey Tubby,

Now I can see why you are so bent....Karl Hess is definitely no Jim Biersdorfer (47 - 4) while attending, err, umm, officiating Kentucky games.

Did anyone else notice that only eight referees listed have Kentucky losing more than they won? Also notice that those officials never worked more than 10 games in their careers for Kentucky. I guess that if you want to work UK games you need to produce more W's.

NEXT!

ShadowStripes Wed Mar 23, 2005 12:04pm

What's even better is UK's record with "noted ACC homer officials" - not my words - Mike Wood (13-0) and Duke Edsall (9-0).

Yeah, they've all got it in for the Cats.

Dan_ref Wed Mar 23, 2005 12:23pm

BTW, there's something wrong with that database judging from this entry:

Mickey Crowley 2 3 40 2/11/1933 12/27/1989

First game 1933?

TubbyRules Wed Mar 23, 2005 03:38pm

wow, and Kentucky folks get the label of being rednecks...

I think some on here should look in the mirror, forgive me for being so low and unworthy of this perfect group of human beings

BTW, in the UT game this year, Hess called a foul on Chuck in the first 6 seconds of the game on a lay up, and then his second in the next 4 minutes...a fan wonders about these trends...

that's what fans do

forgive my love for the game and the love of fairness

good luck with all of your games coming up, enjoy the weekend

for conversation purposes, what about the intentional foul called at near the end of the KU/Bucknell game? He reached, and barely nipped jersey, and was called for an intentional...by definition, it was perhaps the correct call, but, what about all the other games when it isn't such an important moment when this call is not made?

as a fan of hoops, this year seemed to be the most inconsistent whistle I can remember...one half called one way, the next anthor...

Switching from a CUSA game to a Big East game made me derive that there were two different sports taking place...one where you are allowed to make alot of contact to gain advantage without a whistle, then at the same moment on another game, a touch foul made the whistle blow...

a rule is a rule, a walk is a walk, a carry is a carry, no matter the teams playing or the style they play

If you are such a stickler for the rules and you are only trying to improve the game.....yea right!

Let's take this to the next step. You are driving your car 1 mph above the speed limit and a cop decides to stop you and issue a ticket. You complain that you are getting homered. Cop says, rules are rules. In short, a policeman could sit and issue tickets all day long, jamb up traffic, and disrupt the flow of that particular stretch of road, or he could sit back and cite drivers for significant infractions.

Do us all a favor ... keep coming back so we can laugh at you :)

TubbyRules Wed Mar 23, 2005 03:53pm

i truly hope you guys aren't real officials with your manners

it would be a shame to the game we all love so much

i actually disagree, a ticket should be issued on every occassion there is a violation so there would be no instance that any questions about the rules could enter the situation
