What about the next game and they do it again?
What is the reasoning behind the rule of no dunking before the game?

At that point in the JV game I consider those V players to not be involved in that game. Officially there game has not started yet. I do not have my rule book with me, but I think the V game starts around 30 minutes prior to their game time or when you arrive on the court to officiate that game.

I understand that those officials have a situation to deal with as does everyone else when they are out there. That is why I am providing my response and giving them some examples of what could happen and how I might deal with those situations.

In this situation I would inform the coach that the V players should not be out there dunking at halftime of the JV game and leave it at that.

This is my opinion Bart and you have every right to disagree with it. That is your perogative.

Agree that it causes just too big of a mess. Nicely go over to their coach after you get him off the floor and tell him/her what they did, IMO.

Yep. Any coach worth their salt will make sure that those non-players will never be out there dunking again on a game they aren't participating in. A "T" is not necessary.

The rule does not cover a varsity player dunking during the half of the JV game.

The T is for a PLAYER dunking, 10-3-4, it says team member. That reguires a team member ELIGIBlE to play, 4-34-1 thru 4 covers that, and I don't see any mention of players in the next game being team members.
