I told a coach last night(and this is a standard line for me):"I know you weren't talking TO me, but you were talking ABOUT me. That is a disrespectful address. . .(See RefDaddy's response earlier in this thread)"
That seems to de-escalate a lot of situations. Usually they back off and start coaching again.
