We don't know the whole story here, I'm betting. What if this kid has come up crying our pouting a dozen times before in the season? If that's the case, I have no problem with the coach trying to teach a life lesson here.

5th graders cry all the time, regardless of gender. Unless you can physically see something wrong with the kid, let the coach decide.
