I just caught a play I did not understand. Georgia is inbounding in their FC. The inbounds pass is tipped by a Georgia player in the FC and then recovered in the BC. A BC violation is called. The Georgia coach objects but seems to agree with the official after she said something to him. Anyone able to explain how this was a BC violation?

Assuming this is a correct call, could it have something to do with NCAA rules grantng team control during a throw-in? That would seem to meet the "big 4" requirements. Just having a guess.

NCAA 7-6-4 says, on a throw in ADJACENT the front court boundary the throwing team may cause the ball to go into the back court.
9-5-3 says they may PASS it into the back court on a throw-in adjacent the boundary. 9-5-4 says a player inbounds NOT IN CONTROL may cause the ball to go into the back court. NCAA has team control during a throw-in, 4-13-2-C. |
